Every type of game starts life as a basic idea. For example, the game of football came from the idea that there is a ball and that participants interact with it in a defined playing area. Rules, or constraints, are then added to this idea to define how the game develops over time and how it can be fun.
Always remember that game design is primarily the creation of something to amuse, not defining a simple (or complex!) system that works like a machine. This is because games give players an active role in determining how the experience will turn out. They give people the opportunity to not only enjoy a story, but also to make an impact on how that story is told.
To do this you need to develop experience, which can only come from a lot of study and years of practice. If you are at the stage where you only have a simple idea, it is possible that you don’t have the time to do all this, especially when creating games is a hobby, or a secondary activity to your day job. For these reasons our studio offers its game designers and developers to help you create your game not only in the best way, but the way you want it to be. In the end, game design is both a personal and a shared art form at the same time, so you must always feel the game as yours at every stage.
By game design we mean the implementation of rules, mechanisms or elements within a game that do not yet exist. Let’s say you want to make a game about selling apples, but you have no idea how to get started.
The game designer will first help you to define the genre of the game (it could be managerial for example), then he will propose that you use specific components (like cards to indicate the characteristics of the apples on sale, and tokens to indicate the apples themselves). He will clarify what feeling this game must have with you and help to finalize the game mechanics.
The developer, on the other hand, is a role that starts when the mechanics are already in place and the game already has a draft ruleset, but it can be improved.
Believe us, there is no game that cannot be improved, or refined, in some way.
The developer takes care of exactly this: refining the mechanics, cutting superfluous content and enhancing what distinguishes this game from all the others.
Sometimes transforming an idea into a playable game can seem like a monumental task. Its is often found that those who take it on alone cannot dedicate the necessary resources to complete the project or are simply forced to give up, so beautiful ideas never see the light of day. This is where the support of our firm comes into play.
Our role will be to elevate your ideas and shape them, or better sculpt a shape that already exists. From your idea (and it will always remain yours) we will create or develop a game that you can then publish and share with the world.
Our work together will be a collaboration to bring out the best in your game, and if you need a publishing partner later, we can help you with that too!
